18mo checkup

This morning we went in for Emma's 18 month checkup- lots of good news; she's healthy and coming along well developmentally.... BUT she's not gaining weight well enough. She's grown considerably in height, actually jumping up percentiles, but she's only gained about 8 ounces in 3 months. This is causing her growth curve to level out earlier than it should, besides the fact that she's way below the lowest percentile, as she always has been. Until now, she was growing on a normal curve, just lower on the charts, but our doctor is now a little concerned that she's not continuing a similar line any more. She is going to refer us to a pediatric endocrinologist to look her over and run some tests/bloodwork to make sure there isn't anything that needs to be addressed- we don't want to lose any ground if so! Otherwise, if everything comes out normal, we'll sleep easier knowing that all is well. We're waiting to hear when the appointment will be scheduled, and we will keep everyone posted!

After we finished at the doctor's office, we ran a few errands and grabbed lunch- Emma had fun checking out a 5mo old baby boy at the booth next to us, and she was waving at EVERYONE! We went to a park for a short time, where Emma had fun walking all over and watching other children playing, then we headed home- she got to take a nice rocking nap in the car. The weather was so nice that we enjoyed some time out in the yard, and have just finished up dinner. Bath time is next!

Daddy's birthday card

Daddy got his birthday card and shared it with Emma- she did a little beebopping! It took a little time to get this up... again, I can rotate the video in the software application, but it won't transfer the rotation outside of the application! Argh.

Today we also had our first OB appointment- everything looks good so far! Healthy little bean #2 with a heart just beating away!! :)
Here are a bunch of pictures from last weekend's visit with Mimi, PopPop, Uncle Maffis, and Auntie Chelsea! We had a great time and awesome weather, lots of visiting, and a brief outing to the Irish Festival in Richmond!

A nice kiss

I was bringing Emma down the stairs and she decided she wanted me to carry her instead of coming down on her own. As she reached up and I grabbed her, she put her arms around my neck and puckered up for a kiss to my cheek. Awesome!

Trying on shoes

Emma was in our closet this morning trying on our shoes and laughing. She tried to move a little but couldn't quite pick up her feet.

Daddy found Emma a little egg shaped maraca at a toy store recently, she loves walking around the house shaking it, and sometimes will throw it on the floor, which Jackie LOVES! It was too cute- Jack was following her around the house, just waiting for her to toss it!

Here is Emma cleaning up and "cooking" on her own with the bowl we use to make bread with. What a big help she is!
Today, Emma walked around downstairs with a basket and would occasionally put things in or take them out and leave them around the house (no sign yet of Dixie's lost collar). I put a balloon we got her for Valentines Day on the basket.

This is from yesterday when we made bread. She was playing with the bowl and likes to eat dough scraps like daddy. I'll post a video of it next. She is quite a helper in the kitchen and making bread.

Here are a few recent pictures of our girl- She had an incredible marathon nap the other day, which survived transporting upstairs and moving a few times. Mommy got to enjoy the nap for a little while too, and Jack even got in on the napping action... Gotta love all the cuddling!
Here's Emma riding Burrie the giraffe, an old toy that has survived a generation! In this shot, Emma's showing off her gangsta' pose
Emma enjoyed almost a whole day of half-nakey time, we had the wood stove cranked up, it was almost uncomfortably hot in here! She typically wears Daddy's socks as leggings but got away without them for a little while. she really enjoys having those legs out!

And more poses with Burrie- we make laps and laps and laps and laps and laps around the downstairs- she would do it for hours on end if we could go that long! She has started figuring out how to push herself, but she still just zones out to be pushed around the house. Great way to make long phone calls without major interruptions...
